In addition, you may have an older CF, which uses the utility NDCFWCHG. I
recently bought six CF's and one of them did not work with ATCFWCHG, but
*did* work with NDCFWCHG.

Good luck,

I think the compact flash card may be on the secondary IDE/ATAPI header.
Try one of the following commands, based on the whether the compact
flash is master/slave and primary(channel 0)/secondary(channel 1).

ndcfwchg /P /F if master on channel 0
ndcfwchg /P /F /1 if slave on channel 0
ndcfwchg /S /F if master on channel 1
ndcfwchg /S /F /1 if slave on channel 1

Oops, didn't notice Micha was using the new utility.

This is the response I got from Tuan Dinh Hoang at San
Disk. It worked for me and displayed a large PASSED on
the screen.

Please:
1. Mount the CF as a primary master IDE.
2. Boot from a floppy with the tool on the floopy.
3. Make sure the BIOS see the CF.
4. Isuse atcfwchg /p /f
