Hey all..

I am using the above bookmark manager, and today it told me
that my database is corrupt.. So, I posted a request for
help on their web site, and this is what I got..

"
The Personal Edition of URLBase does not contain any means to
recover a corrupted database. I can take a look at the
database and see if I can (partially) recover it. Please send
your corrupted database to the URLBase support e-mail address
"
(the address removed to protect the inocent !!)

I am a bit alarmed by this, so, does anyone have experience
with this problem, or any suggestions ?

TIA..
KH.

Why do you say that ?

I have been using URL Base Personal edition now about 3 years, yes I have
lost databases due to corruption, but at most I have only lost maybe 7
links, yes I said 7 links.
Regularly I Export to HTML in 2 locations, and I also export toa import
file for Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer, I also have a
backup of the database file itself. I do all these backups about every 3
days or whenever I add an important site to my url collection.
I feel because I have a url list of some 20,000 sites I need the security
of a sound backup system.

This program rocks and as any program is prone to OOPS.

Anyways only my experiences, and my own opinion.

I agree that urlbase is a nice program, and yes, I AM guilty
of the deadliest sin of not backing up / exporting, as you
do.. The thing that got me however was the attitude
expressed. I have no problems using beta or pre-release
software, but I should know about it so I can take necessary
steps. Also, once a bug is reported then I expect that it
will be dealt with in the next release. So, the resonse that
I got is what put me on the war path, and not the software in
itself..
