When I "send link by email" it sends it as a" .url" and the recipient must
save the URL

on the hard drive rather than sending the http:// ... so it can simply be
clicked on.

In windows 98, (my other computer) when I send a link the same way, it
maintains its integrety and I can click on it.

I have win xp & outlook 2000 & IE 6.0.

How can I get it to stay a hot link rather than switching to a url

Thanks

Because secure versions of Outlook block shortcut files, I recommend that you use a little free add-in for Internet Explorer when you want to send someone a link to a page. You can get MailTo_URL from http://www.slipstick.com/addins/gallery/index.htm#mailto. It adds an "Email Page" command to the right-click menu in IE and uses the title of the page for the subject of the mail message.

Make sure that the registry entry you create to tell IE where to find the application matches the location where you save the program.

I did this, and the "email page" shows itself on the rt click -- but no
page ever opens to allow me to send! Now what!? I am certain I didn't do
SOMETHING correctly.
Thanks!
