Does anyone know how to make the URL shortcut on the desktop of a Windows XP
machine to launch a new IE window rather than using the already open IE
window. Thanks

HI "ralph :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

Go to Tools>Internet Options> Advanced.
Ucheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

Also, if you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN or Yahoo,
disable them. If you have a firewall, Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker)
My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc. check them as they can block new windows.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause of this and other problems, if you
have it, uninstall it.

Hope this helps.

Sorry...that should be UNcheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

Another approach that's independent of the "Reuse windows" setting is to
create a shortcut pointing to Iexplore.exe. Clicking that shortcut will
always open a new window.
