URL not responding

When I type and address in the URL field and hit enter, nothing happens
except the hour glass and then it eventually times out. I have to go to task
manager to stop the task. Also when I click on the dropdown arrow on the URL
field to view the last pages I've visited, the hour glass comes on and sit
there and times out. This all started a few days ago. What can cause this?
 
did you downloaded any items from an unknown source. sometimes they
seem to distort the function of web browsers, especially internet
explorer. i wonder if the firefox is working ok in your case. please
let us know whether the problem got fix or not.

Read the entire article. There are (user friendly) solutions which don't
involve editing the registry.
