Hello...

I'm looking for a URL launcher that sits in the systray and is compatable with
WinXP(SP1or2). URLDirect did it on my old Win2k OS, but now I'm noticing it
doesn't mention compatability with 2k or xp.

I just reformatted my machine and so I've got that
"This-Time-I'll-REALLY-Be-Careful-With-Software" attitude. :o)

Any suggestions?

Thx,
D.

This may not be exactly what you want, but how about using the built-in
Windows Address Bar?

Just right-click on an empty area in the Taskbar, and select Address from
the Toolbars menu.
You can type any URL, program name, folder/drive letter, etc. and press
Enter to launch it.
The drop-down list keeps a history of the items entered.

Regards,
Eric

No, I'm sorry but that won't do. I'm looking for something where the sites can
be named, ordered, and saved permanently.

Any other suggestions?

Thx,

"URLMenu 99 is a Windows 95/98/NT application for Internet Explorer,
Netscape and Opera users. It has two main features - access to your
bookmarks from a tray icon, and automatic launching of URLs from any piece
of text! Plus a bunch of other things to make life easier"

Fom the site:

"URLMenu 99 is 'nag free' but some features are only completely
functional for registered users. For more information about this, check
the registration page."

I've never looked at the Taskbar Properties before, but gave it a try. The
Address option didn't appeal to me but the Desktop option gives immediate
access to everything on the desktop including the contents of any folders,
without having to go to the actual desktop or open the folders. Great
find -- thanks for the pointer.

Again, it may not be exactly what you are looking for but you might have a
look at NetOpener.

http://www.code.gr/netopener/

It allows you to put in up to 20 URLs which are stored, and which can be
opened with one click. If you need more than 20 you can run multiple copies
of NetOpener from different folders.

OR . . .

If you need to open individual URLs why not make a simple HTML file with the
URLs arranged as you want them. I have several for different subjects, one
of which I call Start.htm and use as my start program. A truncated version
is shown below. I find this better (and safer) than using Favourites.
Alternatively, if you have several of these .htm files you can just click
any of them to open the browser.
