url address bar

I have windows xp. Right next to the url address bar is
a little checkmark that will give you a list of recently
viewed websites when clicked. I can't seem to get that
dropdown box to keep any of those addresses. Any
suggestions?
 
I believe that the address bar pulldown will only show you websites that you
typed into the address bar. Recently view websites are kept in History.

In your browser Settings/Preferences, uncheck "Clear
History Trail when you Sign Off".
 
Tools> Internet Options >Content >Auto Complete .... Check the appropriate
boxes
