I have an older version of Office 97 w/ Access upgrade.
However, I have a new computer w/ new version of sep.
purchased Office XP Student version. I want to use Access.

Anyway to get upgrade Access 97 installed? I don't have
the older software that was upgrade anymore (been over six
years). Will it run ok with Office XP?

If I upgrade to Access 2003, how will that upgrade work?
will it have a problem because older software not on
system? Will 2003 work with XP?

Since your Access 97 needs a qualifying (prior) product (installed or with
installation media available), it will not install without those. So, I
believe your best approach might be to upgrade to Access 2003, using your
Access 97 as the qualifying product. You do not have to install Access 97,
just have the CD available and when the Access 2003 installer tells you it
cannot find a qualifying product, it will ask you to tell it where that
qualifying product is located. Then, insert the A97 CD into the cd-rom
drive and point the installer to it. Should work OK.

As a last bit of advice, the End User License Agreement says that the
product you use to install an upgrade *must* be kept with the upgrade
product. So, put your 97 CDs in the same box as the 2003 installation
media.

Here's a link to upgrade eligibility and pricing for Access 2003.

I found my WordPerfect 7 Suite CD and was able to install
Access 97. So far the other Office XP products and WP 10
seem to be working fine.
