Hello,

Movie Maker WinXP SP1, ver. 2.0.3312.0

Pls. help urgently, I have only 5 hours (15:00 Vienna Time) to get the video
of my grandpa's 70th birthday!

I have an urgent problem with an MPEG 2 file. I have to cut the sound of the
first 3min of the file and replace it with some other sound. How can I do
that with Movie Maker or is there a "demux"-program for that available (so
that I have one audio-file, one video file).

From the beginning: I have a corrupted Magix file, so I cannot open the
project. What I have is the latest file of that project saved as an MPEG2
file, however, I noticed that the music of the first 3 min is too loud so
that I cannot hear the spoken voice. So, I thought to edit the mpeg-file in
the movie maker: delete the sound of the first 3 min, add a new song and
speak again. The problem now is that I do not have separate tracks for audio
and video - everything is in one file. I know that there are some
demux-programs for dvd's to create a file for audio one for video out of an
dvd, is there somethink like this for MPEG2?

Thank you

You can use TMPGenc (www.tmpgenc.net) to demux mpeg2. From File->Mpeg Tools
and then 2nd or 4th tab. It will produuce a movie (m2v) and an audio file
(wav/mp2/etc...)

Tip: For your time critical project, just do the audio track (song + voice)
in Movie maker and export. it will make a WMA file. Use this and the video
(m2v) obtained above to multiplex with TMpGenc again. This way you save a
lot of time saving and encoding movie.

Thank you for you help,

however, I cannot save the file in WMF format, I always get an error that
the folder cannot be accessed, this happens also on the cd-rw-drive. I could
edit the file (Split the movie into to, turned sound for the first movie
off, added the speech for the first part) but could not save it...

Maybe I have to use another machine.

Is there a download for movie maker for Windows 2000??

Thank you

mpeg2's are the files used in dvd's so if you have a dvd demuxing app to
hand this should do it.
MM does not run on windows 2000

Where are you saving? You cannot save on the CD/DVD directly, if thats what
you are trying todo. If editing in WMM, first save as AVI/WMV on hard disk.
After that you need to re-encode this saved file into MPEG2 format (using
e.g. TMPGenc) or if using Sonic MyDVD just make another DVD project and burn
(it will do the ocnversion).

Hi Rehan,

my version of moviemaker is totally buggy, eg. when editing I could
play the video only once, to run it again I had to close/open the
programm. However, I did never run any updates. Maybe some security
settings prevent saving the file. Anyway, thank you for trying to
help, my problem is solved.

Best regards
