urgent : removed Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from protocol install menu

i was having issues with my LAN connection on my 2000PRO
system, so i went into the properties menu and
uninstalled the tcp/ip protocol from the list. i tried to
reinstall it again and it's not showing up in the
protocol list when i press the Install button... now my
regular internet connection and my LAN have no tcp/ip
protocol and i don't know how to fix it. please pass
along any advice...

Did you reset the machine before you tried to re-install?
If not reboot and retry. that should work. if not
uninstall the driver using add/remove hardware then re-
install the card again.

reboot
 
i rebooted and i uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. then i rebooted again. still no luck... any other ideas
