Vishal

We connect to the internet using a proxy server, we have
observed that when I try to post data to some sites I get
a page cannot be displayed message. When I turn off 'Show
friendly error messages' it starts working fine. If i
connect to my Development Server for the same websites
(without the proxt server), I do not face any issues.

Does anyone have any idea if there is a service pack in
the works, which addresses this issue. I tried with
Netscape (with proxy server) and I did not recieve this
error. This seems to be very surprising as I have lots of
customers who might be getting the same error.

Thanks
V

I have also experienced same issue. so far, there are 2
versions
i isolated this to 5.5 sp1, and some 6.0 versions on
different platforms.

Here is what happens. when i click on a link on a secure
page that opens a sub-window (trying to open another
secure page as well) i immediately see "page cannot be
displayed" error in the sub-window. but, when i hit
refresh on the sub-window, the page appears with no
problems. If i close the sub-window and click on the link
again, i may or maynot see the same error again (very
inconsistent) can't seem to isolate a cause so far. When i
look at the web server log file, i don't even see a GET
request for this sub-window page that erred out.

To make matters worse, when i turn off the "Show friendly
HTTP error messages" check box option in "advanced" tab,
the error never happens again. I discovered this by
accident, thinking that if i turn off this option, may be
i can get to the root cause of this error.

Also worth mentioning, if i deploy my site on a non-secure
server, not a problem, error never happens..

Can anybody shed any light on this? thanks

This is going to be very weak assistance, but I know that
while I was combing the MS Knowledge Base for the answer
to my own problem, I came across an article describing a
problem that occurs when security settings on proxy
conflict with those on server it's trying to connect to.
If you haven't already looked at it, seems worth checking
out. Wish I could give you exact KB#; searching
for "proxy security" might find it. Good luck.
