when I try to open a off-line web-page on my computer,
with operating system win2000, my IE 6 SP1
says: "explorer.exe has occured an error..." and all
applications close.

someone can help me?

thanks,

What else does the error message say...
What type of file are you trying to open? (.doc,.exe or .htm)
we need more information

it only says (i'm trying to translate from german...):
explorer.exe has occured an error. Start the program new.
an error-protocol will be created.

and it happens when I try to open an off-line web-
page...htm, html...

i've tried to download IE6 SP1 another time but nothing
changed

thanks,

andrea

This person is correct there is a huge problem with one of
the recent batch of security updates I have several users
and the list keeps growing who cannot broowse websites now
that were no problem before. This problem is not linked
to OS I have users experiencing the same problem in
98/2000/XP. I have tried everything I can possibly think
of. The problem even seems to affect Netscape as well.
Seems like one of these recent patches affected the way
TCP/IP handles webpage traffic. All other network
connectivity works fine on these machines just web traffic
is affected. I first though the problem was linked to
external sites outside our firewall but soon learned that
the sites that I was able to view on affected machines
were not live sites but cached material and once I deleted
the cache nothing seemed to work at all. This problem is
only getting worse... Beware of MS security updates that
have not been thoroughly tested in your environment they
may make a mess for you.

.
I have found that the Opera browser works after the
security update caused several problems with my computer as
well. I cannot find any fix from Microsoft.

Exact error message is Page Cannot be Displayed the
webpage is currently unavailable.

I have narrowed the problem down even further in all cases
the problemed systems cannot access webpages beased on
port 80 any other webpages on any other ports work fine.
There is a definate link between one of the security
updates addred recently to handle port 80 attacks which
obviously went wrong.

Another problem I have noticed is that websites requiring
a username and password via a dialog box ie. Windows
athenification simply reappears after entering appropriate
information. I have seen others on this newgroup
reporting the same problem. Both seem to be related.

Jeremy.

Jeremy:

I'm having the same problem. I can get email, newsgroups, secure sites.
But no webpages. However, I can get to websites using Navigator.
