hi everyone i have puchased a new tv with a pc input, i installed a copy of windows that i had and the resolution was 1024x? but the copy of windows was not genuine so i installed another genuine copy of windows but the resolution now will not change from 800x600. please someone help me with my problem.

It sounds like you need some new graphics drivers, do you know what video card you have and we can point you in the right direction :)

well ive only got the card what came with my pc (****ty one)but i have an intel 82815 graphics controller with 32mb of memory but when i had the previous version of windows it said i had 4mb of memory?

Try downloading the drivers for it from here and see if that lets you pick a new resolution:

If you have windows XP, then the direct link is:

It is probably using shared memory in the BIOS which is why the amount changes - it should have more than 4MB allocated ideally. How much memory is there in total?

i have installed the drivers and nothing has changed, what do you mean by "how much memory is there in total"

So when you try to change the resolution 800x600 is the only option on the slider? Very strange, I'll have a google and see if I can see anything.

Total memory would be how much your computer has (when you first turn your computer on it should say), this amount is shared with your graphics card. For example 512MB total memory may share 32MB with the graphics card, leaving 512-32 = 480 for the system to run on.

The only thing I can think of is that your graphics card is set to such a low amount that the resolution is limited. If you lower the colour quality to 16bit does that let you select a higher resolution?

the slider looks the same as when i could run it at 1024x? exept when i try and drag it it doesnt do anything. even at 16bit i cant change the resolution.
