URGENT: Missing some files on my Windows XP desktop

Hi,

Suddenly some files on my Windows XP desktop disappeared (but not all of
them: just a few). I've already reboot, tried the "explorer.exe method" and
nothing seems to work

How many files? Do you remember their names?

What do you mean by the "explorer.exe method" ?

If you know which icons are missing, do a search for them and just add them
to your desktop.
Or, just go to a Restore Point.

PS: By the explorer.exe method, do you mean you went into the Windows
Security /Task Manager and selected New Task and typed in explorer.exe ?
