I have a computer runnig win 2000 and it gives this error " The local policy
doesn't allow you to logon interactivily".
when i try to login with any user from the domain or with any user from the
local computer, i cannot have acess to the system. I think this started to
happening when i typed a gateway and a dns.

Please Help its urgent (i'm now in front of the pc)
Thanks

Nelson

are you at the domain controller, i have seen this error when i try to logon
using remote desktop...and loggin into the domain through another pc.....yea
also you might check your tcp settings

are you an admin, that is setting up the policy's cause i know there is a
ploicy to deny logon interactivly ..has this been set by someone
else..maybe...also it would be domain policy rather than local....look at
that...it seems to be either policy or DNS to my knowledge...

I'm an admin.
No one has altered the policy , in the server.
With XP works fine.
But with the same machine and with win2000 gives the message" The local
policy doesn't allow you to logon interactivily".

Thanks anyway!

Perhaps you can go to another computer on the network and edit the group
policy on that computer. You are prevented from logging into that computer
directly, but you should be able to access it from the network.

This is due to not having the "logon locally" user right assigned to user
account you are trying to logon to. Found in polic\computer config\windows
settings\security settings\local policies\user rights. If this machine is a
member of a domain you can set a domain or OU policy to over ride the local
policy.

You need to give the user account the logon locally user right in a policy
that will apply to the machine. This setting can be found in a policy in
computer config\windows settings\security settings\local policies\user
rights assignment.
