TO ANYONE!

I set up a user/group permission/passwords with the wizard and it created a .
mdw file of which I accidently deleted! I know, I Know i'm stupid but is
there a way of getting back into msaccess? I can't even create a new db
without it asking me for a user name - (Of which none of mine work!)

Please help!

Thanks, Rich

If it's asking for a username, that suggests that your mdw file was not
deleted, and is in fact set as your default mdw.

Anyway, check the folder where your mdb file is located. The wizard created
a backup before securing (same name but a bak extension). You should be
able to rename that to have a mdb extension, and it will be unsecured.

You may have to start Access, and go to Tools, Security, Workgroup
Administrator, and join the default system.mdw workgroup file (it's usually
located in the windows system folder, but search for it first).

Hey Joan

All my access files were asking for a username and password whether they had
security on them or not and even if I tried to make a new access db it would
still prompt and couldn't get passed it. Tried "repairing" MSACCESS but still
didn't work so just uninstalled and re-installed access and ok now so if
anyone else has similar problem prob reccomend they do the same!

Thanks for replying.

That just meant you were joined by default to a workgroup file that was used
to secure some mdb (i.e. a password was set for the 'Admin' user).

You could have just rejoined the standard system.mdw workgroup file. If
that mdw had a password set for Admin, you could have copied a pristine
system.mdw from another computer. But glad you got it working.
