Hello,

I have a very confusing situation that i cant get an answer to and the
solution that is being given to me cant help either. So i thought i will
post here and see if some one can come up with a solution. I have installed
WinXP Prof Arabic enabled that is a language pack in installed on top of the
operating system thats what i have been told. And then Office 2000 English /
Arabic. To use office arabic i was told that the language pack of arabic had
been installed. Now i want to remove the arabic completely and dont want to
use the office arabic. What i am being told is that the language pack cannot
be removed just like that but instead the complete harddisk will have to be
formatted for this reason. I dont want the formatting to be done as this
will slow down. Please if any of you ppl out there can come up with any
suggestion as to i can remove only the language pack and if there is any
such solution available please let me know a.s.a.p.

Regards,

Fatima, Bahrain.

Hello Fatima,
First of all I am no guru, but there is some wise advice to follow...
second, I am a bit confused as to which language pack you want to get rid
of, that of Windows or that of Office? If Office only, re-installing Office
should do the trick--Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, MS Office, and then
you will get the option to add or remove components; if not, uninstalling
and re-installing should correct it. As to the language pack for Windows, if
it doesn't appear in the Add/Remove Programs list ...? However, formatting a
hard drive and reinstalling Windows and all applications used can be a slow
process, but will not slow down anything once completed. A bit longer of a
process if one considers the *absolutely*necessary*backup* of documents,
e-mail and acct settings, favorites, network settings, ..., you know, all
those things you should already have a backup of, but at the end of the day
it is probably the best solution.

As a final thought, you might want to check out Control Panel, Regional and
Language Options... though I am not sure how much they will help. As far as
I know this will not uninstall anything, simply change the looks of.
