Hi,
Please can anyone help me with my problem...
I am running Windows XP with all updates, and my ISP is Freeserve. I am on
their broadband service, using an Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem, with drivers
version 2.0.1.2 (the latest)...
Whenever I try to upload anything... email large attachment, FTP to my
webspace, send a file on MSN Messenger etc... basically, ANY form of
uploading... IF the file is small (say, under 500kb), the upload will work
correctly, but if it is larger (this fault occurs anywhere from 5ookb to
3500 kb into the upload), I get the following fault...
My connection stays live (ie click the 2 monitor icon in the start menu, I
get the status of the connection... still live, still increasing the time
connected etc).
The Speedtouch Icon turns to yellow (initialising modem status).
ALL web activity stops... can't send/receive emails, open webpages, log in
to messenger etc.
If I try to log back in to messenger, I get an error claiming that I APPEAR
to be behind a proxy, but the settings cannot be determined. Please check
your details...
The only way to correct this behaviour is to reboot the system (warm reboot
will work).
PLEASE can you offer me any suggestions as to why this might happen... I've
run Adaware, I'm up to date with virus definitions, I am running PC Cillin
2003 with integrated firewall, but the behaviour is able to be replicated
with the firewall wsitched off. I do not have XP's firewall initialised on
this connection.
If you are able to solve my problem, then excellent, and thank you, but even
if not, please can you give me any suggestions as to POSSIBLE problems, as
I'm at a loss!!!
Many thanks,
Jon
