urgent help needed

My computer is doing funny things
First it has virous or adware on it
second it showed as having a disk IO error ( disk is working fine )
now windows will not boot so I tried to do a repair windows it just hung

Ned Kelly did not hang that long
so I tried to do a new install
windows gets to searching for old version of windows and hangs first I
would like to repair old ver of windows if not I would like to do new
install. how do I get windows for find old ver or to forget and let me
do new install.

If your hard drive has an existing windows installation on it, then when you
put in the XP cd and go to install. It should detect a previous installation
and allow you to repair it. If it does not detect it then you could well have
a disk fault as you said earlier and windows has got corrupted..
 
yes I'm thinking that the boot section is corrupt just a guess on my side.
but what I need to know is how do I get windows to alouw me to even do a
new install but I really would like to use the old install as I have got
files and email that I woulds like
 
boot of a windows cd and select recovery console

Then use the fdisk /mbr.

Try that.

Otherwise it will be a matter of connecting your drive to another pc, then
salvaging any data like PST files off.
 
recovery console any lets me work with existing installations
can't use fdisk
eg
1: c|windows

which windows installation would you like to log onto
 
Just did a drive diaGNOSTIC WITH SAMSUNG ESTOOLS it states thaT the
drive is 100% heLTHY.
has the option to do a low level format what do you think
