Have a win2k DC (the only one) system down with Exchange
2000 (both standard versions). AD has integrated DNS.
Wins is also installed. So far, system is not booting
(VERY slow - seems to hang on the network connections
stage) and we have no real insight into what brought it
down. It's a small shop, so there are no backup DCs. I
would greatly appreciate any and all help with the
following questions:
- If the OS is reinstalled, will the AD be preserved or
do we need to restore it from a backup? If so, any
advice on the process would be very helpful.
- We see the "directory restore" option on the boot
attempt. Can someone help us understand what it is and
how/when to use it?
- Does anyone have any insight into known slow boot
issues with win2k (will also post in win2k)?
- Any other suggestions or insights are very welcome.
I'm researching now, your experiences would be a great
help.
Thanks very much,
Diane
