hi i was using one of my pcs last night, just burning a cd and after that
browsing the web when suddenly i heard my hard drive give way and it made a
really weird nise like a cd skipping or a funny clanging noise, i kept on
using the pc to see what happened and every time i did any thing on the pc a
blue screen came up saying cannon write to C: drive (hard drive) i wasnt out
of space it just didnt work. i opened up my pc tried putting on the pc and
the hard drive made the funny noise again and the pc couldt find the hard
drive it was a phyisical problem with it.

has anybody had this experience and knows what to do without loosing all
that preciouse information on the drive? is it a good idea to open it? i
have and i still cant find the problem, havent opened it entirely becasue
one of the screws is totally different and i cant find a screw bit for it

Don't try to open the hard drive. If you have not backed up your data then
your only option is to send the drive off to a data recovery place and maybe
they can save it for you.

Hard drives die. They usually last about five years. Some last longer,
some less. This is why I backup all the data on my pc that I cannot afford
to lose. I burn it to a cd. It's easy.

Your drive is Quantum FB CX or lct?

Replace a controller board of HDD with obviously working one, from
same model. For Quantum it may help.

No, it will strongly reduce probability of successful recovery of the
data. And do not hear this noice for a long time, this may lead to
head crash and damage of disk surface.
