There appears to be no support for an older UPS's that connects via a com
port.
I am using one of these and there is no battery option in any mentioned
space.
The UPS still works. Just no automatic shutdown. It keeps the computer
running until the battery is drained and then the computer turns off due to
lack of power.
Just one of the many small annoying things Vista has done :-/
Like you, many of my UPS are the older models with Serial only
control. Fresh batteries every so often keep them running and out of
the scrap heap (and save a few $$ ).
Vista *assumes* that we all run 'Vanilla' configurations.
How about those of us that have one large UPS running multiple desktop
computers?
Vista has forced a burden on many hardware venders to support a
entirely new way of doing things or risk losing current customers due
to near term support issues (<Rant>My list of "never purchase again"
is growing. Mostly NoName, but a few major players that are ducking
the issue of RTM, by claiming "when Retail is available" </Rant>).
