Is it possible to install professional Xp over home XP without first
re-formatting the hard drive?

The reason I ask is I have a copy of XP Pro comes with Microsoft Frontpage
and office and I would like to install these programs aswell. any way of
just installing these on their own?

Cheers

Not 100% sure about installing XP pro over XP home but I believe the upgrade
is possible.
However I don't think any retail copy comes with Office applications. XP pro
is an operating system, Office is a application, 2 separate items. You
perhaps have a recovery disk, but that will be specifically for the PC is
was designed for.

Greetings --

Yes, you can upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro. However, WinXP
Pro does _not_ come with Office and FrontPage. NO version of Windows
includes these entirely separate applications.

Ok

Must have got the wrong end of the stick so to say.

I guess to install over the top of home is just a matter of booting from XP
disc and following instructions?

Yes, along with some thinking before answering the questions.

Also recommend you visit Microsoft's web site about Windows XP to find
out features of home vs. pro to ensure yourself that you need/want it.
While I find Pro is needed for me, I am sure it's not needed for all and
it's not going to give you any more applications (which is what I think
you are seeking).
