upperfilters/ lowerfilters missing in registry editor

Hi all..
need some help/ info.
here is what happened.
my uppper and lower filters in my registry editor are missing..my problem..
what happened is..
my dvd/cd driver would no longer read my discs.
so i went to a support site that suggested i delete the upperfilters & lowerfilters in my registry editor..DUMB MOVE ON MY PART..
by doing this it caused some glitches here in there..my iTunes..and a couple of other installed video programs no longer work..and of course my dvd/cd driver STILL does not read my discs..
HOW can i put my the upper/lower filters BACK in my registry editor..
I looked around for advice but it is a bit overwhelming and the last thing i want to do is make a mistake a screw up my system..
i have a Windows XP..

Have you tried doing a system restore?
