Many thanks for the reply.
I am trying to upload video images from the above camcorder. After loading
the software from the cd rom (which states it is compatible with xp, the
camcorder was purchased in 2003) a windows installation programme starts
to
run and a message comes up stating "this software has failed windows logo
testing to verify its comaptaibility with XP" it goes onto say that
continuing to load it could seriously damage my PC.
"video images"?
Is it a DV camcorder with an installed memory card?
If so, then the software you are attempting to install
is *image* capture software for still images on the memory card.
This software install will include drivers, they are "unsigned" and
that is what the error message refers to. See this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293765/en-us
You have a few choices:
Visit the Sony site for your global location.
Click the support link, and try and locate an updated download
of the software - I am confident Sony will have available for download
signed drivers that conform to XP varification.
If in the unlikely event Sony have not made available "signed"
drivers (but they will have) Goto:
http://www.download.com/
and download image capture software and rummage around
under the drivers link for compatible drivers.
The last option: Create a restore point, then install the
software you have - it's doubtful there will be a problem
but if so, use system restore to reset.
