Can anyone help with advice on this? I've tried uploading a home
camera video to my website but in vain. All the usual ftp and
onsite ways fail. Could it be that the video size is too much at
over over 7mb? If so, can anyone suggest a video editor? I don't
mind shorteing it. Also, the extension says .MOV (all capitals).
Is this OK, or should it be something else?
Thank you.

Don't know about the size limitation of whatever site you are uploading it
to.
What plays it on your PC? Quicktime I would assume.
What makes you think the upload is not working? Can you give specific
information?

Yes, it plays in QuickTime. I have tried several times uploading
it to my website (where it seems there is NO limit on upload
sizes!). I have used ftp and uploading directly into the online
control panel. This latter method is the one I normally use and
works fine for everything other kind of upload file.

Thank you.

Is "movie maker" a free or shareware program? Do you know where I
can find it?

What do you mean - ".mov isn't good format" ?

Thanks.

How about the more specific information?
In other words - what error are you getting that implies it is not
uploading?
Does it just "stop" with no error?
Does it finish and it just doesn't seem to be working or something?

What we are missing here is the actual indicator that tells you that it
failed to upload.

Well, in my online upload mode with my host, I always get a
message which says "upload successful" or "upload failed". In
this case, I get the "failed" message every time. I can always
see each new file or folder on my directory list. So far, this
one is not appearing.

.mov is no a good format for the webpage (is heavy and the most of
people have problems) ...and the movie maker come with XP (v.2.1.
with SP2) start/all programs/accesories/movie maker

I disagree with "most people have problems" (with quicktime.)
The fact is - however - this is unlikely to be the problem with the upload.
My bet it has something to do with the single file size.

Hi Scot,
I think he meant your viewers would need third party software, specifically
QuickTime or quicktime alternative, if you use .mov

Third party software....

No it isn't - it comes with Windows - has done so since Windows Millennium.

WAV is an audio file format. Movie Maker is not primarily an audio editor.

However, you should be able to insert a *.wav file in the audio track in
Movie Maker along with mp3 and midi.

Hi Scot,
the theory say: Only QuickTime files version 2.0 or earlier can be played in
Windows Media Player. Later versions of QuickTime require the proprietary
Apple QuickTime Player. For more information, visit the following Apple Web
site:

and the reality.....

Sorry, I meant to say Movie Maker doesn't handle .mov files. I
can manage the .wav files, it's the movie/video files I am having
trouble with. This is the site I am working on, if you are
interested - www.craigwarlow.co.uk You will see that I have
audio files uploaded but can't get the video up.

Thanks.
