I uninstalled IE7 Beta 2. There were reports in the process that it couldn't
find certain files. I pointed it in the right direction if I could find them.

But after the uninstall when I start my computer I have a problem more than
half the time. The wallpaper comes up but no desktop or taskbar loads.
Sometimes the taskbar will flash briefly then disappear. If I keep rebooting
it will come up eventually. I thought I needed to repair IE6, but the
download of IE6 won't load because it says I have a more recent version (and
I made the registry tweak Microsoft suggests that was supposed to fix that
problem but it didn't). The Help | About in IE 6 reports verson
6.0.2900.2180.xpsp.060210.1526 and notes Update Versions: Beta 2.

So something didn't restore correctly and I can't find a way to repair IE6
fully.

Any suggestions?

Restore to a time before you installed IE6. Also consider trying to start >
run > "sfc /scannow" and see if that does the trick first I guess.

You might be seeing a symptom of a failed explorer.exe process that's not
related to IE at all?

Perhaps you meant to restore to a point before I installed IE7? I did that
but then still had some difficulties and re-installed 7 then removed it
again. It seems to be all working okay now. It could have been an exlorer.exe
problem since that seems to be what wasn't responding. But I knew so many
Windows components are tied into Explorer that I thought it must be related
to IE7 removal.
