I recently ordered a new laptop that comes with Windows Vista Home Basic and
I was wondering if it was fine to upgrade it to Windows Vista Home Premium.
Will this cause any trouble or problems? Anyone know?

Know that there are some limitations in the license for the Anytime Upgrade.
It can only be moved once to a new system. You might want to look at
purchasing a retail Vista Home Premium upgrade instead of the Anytime
Upgrade.

The anytime upgrade is not available in Australia. I tried to do it but
Australia wasn't in the list of supported countries.

With the limitations in the AU license, I don't recommend it.

Thanks guys, I did not know they had those upgrades. I can purchase a copy
of the Vista Premium upgrade from school for around $70, so If I do that,
will that be as good as getting one of the "Anytime Upgrades"? I'm not
limited to an "Anytime Upgrade" right?

Yes it will work just the same, and it's better than the Anytime Upgrade,
which has certain restrictions, such as it can only be moved to a new system
once.

Thank you very much. Much appreciated.

if you are purchasing the academic version it is not uncommon as in the past to have some functionality disabled.
might check with the vista web site to make sure that everything you wish vista to do is useable in that version.
