Please don't type in all capital letters. On Usenet (where you are
posting) it is considered shouting and rude, but more importantly it
makes your post very hard to read and some people won't even bother.

A 4-year old Vaio is very unlikely to be a good candidate for Vista.
This is for starters. Did you check to see if there are Vista drivers
for all your hardware at Sony's site? Sony uses very proprietary
hardware and if they don't have drivers available for your machine you
won't be able to install Vista.

You'll get more help if you give the hardware specs of your machine.
Right now with so little information, all I can speculate is that your
machine isn't compatible with Vista - either hardware, software, or both.

What are the specifications of your machine? CPU? RAM? That may be
causing some issues, as a 4 year old computer could be a little out dated.

Please do yourself a favor and STOP typing in all caps, it is
considered rude and shouting. Second do yourself a second favor and do
NOT upgrade this laptop! Almost every problem you see here is from
people that have upgraded. Most people that have problems with
machines that come with Vista from the store are because they find it
'different'. Upgrading pc's to Vista, expecially 4 year old machines,
is just asking for trouble.

I am having the same exact problem and just created a seperate thread with
more detailed description. andything further anyone can add?

Upgrading is NOT the thing to do. Stay with XP unless you are FORCED
to upgrade. LOTS of things are proprietary or unique to your setup and
if your system manufacturer does not sell YOUR EXACT SETUP in a Vista
machine, there may be no drivers provided by them.
