Upgrading users/permissions etc from old win2000 to new winxp

Got an old laptop which currently runs Windows 2000 workstation which
we are planning to replace with a newer laptop running Windows XP.

Installed XP and re-installed all the apps etc. Is there any way to
export the users/permission settings from windows 2000 to import into
Windows XP? Rather than have to go through and recreate users/groups/
permissions etc from scratch?

If you need a scripted approach to handle a large number of
machines and users, the User State Migration Tool is your friend.

If you've only couple profiles to transfer, the File And Settings
Transfer (F.A.S.T.) Wizard should suffice.

Not sure if any of these procedures will work moving from win 2000 to
XP, or will they?
