I have WIN2000 Prof SP2 and I'm considering upgrading to
XP.

If I upgrade, will it remove my files and settings? I
will backup my files etc. to CD, but wanted to know how
much I need to worry about it messing up my other programs
or files.

Thanks!

You should backup in any case, but under normal circumstances you will
not lose any data and most of your settings.

An upgrade, done by running a retail XP CD (not OEM which will not
upgrade) from the Win2000 will retain installed programs and data,
though you should have that backup against something like a power
failure at a critical moment
