Hi
While in the process of installing Windows XP over my Windows Me, the Upgrade Advisor tells me that I have a Blocking Issue (meaning that I can't finish installing XP until the issue is resolved). The Blocking Issue that it says I have is "Bad System Configuration", and points me to a Microsoft Knowledgebase Article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311446) about the Sircam32 virus. I have checked and re-checked everything it tells me to do, but I do not have the Sircam32 virus, or any other virus

Does anyone know why I might be getting this Blocking Issue then? Could it be caused by something other than a virus? Thanks for any insight anyone might have, I would love to get XP installed sometime soon

Thanks, Doug

If you have any antivirus installed on your computer just uninstalled it and than try to install xp

I don't use any anti-virus software.

I also ran the fix tool provided by symantec to make absolutley sure that I don't have the virus, and it said I didn't have it

Is there anything else I might do?

Doug;
You don't us anti virus software?
Then it is very likely another virus is on the computer.
You need to determine what and use proper removal to get rid of it.
This would have been easier if you had properly protected the
computer:

Try #1, #5 & #6 on this link to check for viruses and spyware:

Otherwise a Clean Installation may be best:
