I'm trying to narrow down an issue with my current video card (a
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb), and it occurs to me that the
chipset drivers I have installed are the earliest ones released
for the thing. What's the second easiest way to go about getting
newer ones installed (since the easiest is a full reinstall of XP
Professional, and I'm trying to avoid that)?

Do you mean like downloading INFINST.exe from Intel or Asus ?

How about the inf5021003.zip file, labelled "Intel(R) Chipset
Software Installation Utility" ?

http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4P800 Deluxe&Type=All

There is a whole book to read here - most of this info
can be ignored, unless you just want to install one .inf
out of the lot:

ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-support/6934/ENG/readme.txt

I found that README via this page:

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/Product_Filter.asp?ProductID=816

I would just double click on the .exe...
