I'm about to upgrade our network from NT4 Server to
Win2000 server. What is the best way to do this ? I have 1
PDC and 2 BDCs. If I upgrade the PDC does that mean it
automatically installs active directory and carries over
user accounts and groups, shares, permissions, and logon
scripts? Or do I have to do a DCPROMO after the upgrade ?
Once that is done, what about my 2 BDCs ? Do they still
authenticate or must the upgrade occur on all NT Server 4
BDCs at once ? Thanks

Yes. It will become a PDC emulator that your remaining NT BDCs will
replicate with.

As long as you are in mixed mode ( the default install of a Win 2k domain)
you can continue to keep NT 4.0 BDCs on the network as long as you want.
