I recently purchased a new Dell laptop loaded with XP Home. Used disk to upgrade my desktop from Windows 98. Can't register XP on desktop and found out I need to purchase another copy of XP to install on my desktop. Do I now need the full version or can I buy the upgrade? Just spent several hours converting programs to XP. Hope I don't have to repeat.

If you have the Win 98 disk then you qualify for the upgrade. You should be
able to run the repair install with the new XP upgrade disk that you will
purchase and retain all your programs , files and settings. Jym
