I have an old PC from september '07 (HP Compaq Pavillion s3040.uk http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/120484/hp-pavilion-slimline-s3040uk.html) that due to its physical size I would like to upgrade to run decent PC games, it runs games like WOW at a low framerate but nothing special, i'm looking at spending approx £200 ish and was wondering which components people would recommend I buy, how I would recognise which products are compatible and how I would go about doing it? Thanks very much Tongrer

P.S The New Dawn of War is out in Feb so I really want the folllowing spec or whatever i need to have the game run smoothly with a high frame rate :P

* Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1
* AMD Athlon 64×2 4400+ or any Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2 GB RAM (XP and Vista)
* A 256MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900, or equivalent
* 5.5 GB of Hard Drive space

Hi,

£200 isn't a lot of cash, you would do alot lot better with £300 if you could put it together, but you should just be able to upgrade the cpu from 2.0 Ghz to 3.0 ghz and the graphics from Nvidia 7300LE to a 9600GT or similar.

Also i recommend you take the side off the PC and look at the Wattage on your Power Supply as they often use a cheap non-brand that will more than likely need upgrading.

Lastly when you take the side off if you look around the area of the CPU there will be a manufacterers name and model number of the motherboard, just so we can check what its specs and capabilities are.
