I need to increase the hard drive capacity in a Compaq ML
330 server running Windows 2000. Currently I have two 18
GB drives off a Raid 431 controller and need to replace
the drives with at least two 36 GB drives.
One option I am looking at is whether by removing the
second mirrored and replacing it with a 36 GB drive, will
the free disk space show in W2K disk utilities and allow
me to partition and format the free space. Will the
controller fail to mirror the drives because of the
difference in hard disk size?
The other idea I had was to carry out a disaster
recovery, having replaced both drives with new 36GB
drives. This in thoery should work but will it? After the
restore of operating system, data etc, will the free disk
space be accessible to partition and format?
Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
