Upgrading GFX Card

Hey there,

I've currently got a good old GeForce 3 64Mb, and am looking at upgrading to
an ATI card.

I'm looking at around £100, but i want something that can handle the
up-to-date games.

I've been looking at 9600XT or 9800Pro. Which is best value for money?

Also, how big a difference is 128-bit to 245-bit?

You can find 9700 pro's for around $140 or so, or a refurbed 9800 Pro for
$150. Don't go the route of the 9600XT unless you just don't want to play
any future 3D games.

You can pick up a refurbished 9700 Pro for less than £90 delivered from
www.ebay.co.uk , which is about the least you should get for 'up-to-date
games'. The original 256-bit 9800 Pro is about 5-7% faster, but watch out
for the recently-released 128-bit versions, as they are a bad choice. Look
at paying £120-£150 including delivery for a 9800 Pro, but make sure it's a
256-bit version. The following websites have price comparisons for most
reputable online retailers:

Now why would the 9700 support games that the 9600XT won't?

I didn't say it wouldn't support games. Its just not as fast as a 9700 Pro.
Who wants to play DOOM III at 800x600 with low quality?
