hey everyone i hope i am in the right place, i just built a new desktop
AMD 940 Black edition @ 3.517Ghz
4 Gigs Corsair XML 8500 C7 6-6-8-24 @2.0v
HITACHI 1TB 7200/, Corsair TX 750 PSU
EVGA GTX 260 'Core 216' 55nm 670/1138/1428
Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX MB
i partitioned the terabyte HD for 150gigs C:\ NTFS, i will be buying
windows 7 in the near future and i have some files that i have backed up and
copied to an external drive ( and will be adding to it ASAP ) my question
is, when i go to do a clean install of windows 7, will there be an issue(s)
restoring my files to the new OS,
thanks in advance

You tell us everything except what you used to back those files up..
native XP backup.......wont work with W7
Native Vista backup....will work with W7 to the best of my knowledge
a 3rd party program...that would need to ne installed under W7 in order to
restore the backed up files

Want to be sure just copy the files to a DVD/CD

I'm not sure what you're asking.

If you've simply copied files to an external drive, there are no major
issues in copying them back. (You may need to give permission to copy files
like IE favorites.)

Applications can't be copied in that way.

You have such a large HD why don't you partition and dual boot with
WinXP? Keep XP for awhile until you are sure all is well
with Win7.

Check with Acronis if they support restoring to to Windows 7. It doesn't
really have anything to do with WindowsXP.Hardware.
