Great, this will save me a lot of time from having to do a clean
install like we were told we would have to do if we are running
Win7RC. I have so many games and apps installed that reinstalling from
scratch takes about 1 week.

Paragraph two should be read again..

"Important We strongly recommend that you do a clean installation and use
Windows Easy Transfer to upgrade your computer to Windows 7. The only
Microsoft-supported upgrade scenario is from Windows Vista to Windows 7. If
you really have to do an in-place upgrade from a prerelease version of
Windows 7, use this workaround at your own risk. Also, make sure that you
back up your data before you perform the upgrade. For more information about
how to back up your data and uninstall your current installation of Windows
7, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

You apparently started a new thread, rather than replying to a
previous message, and you certainly didn't make it clear to whom you
were replying or about what.

So I have no idea what will save you a lot a lot of time.

I believe he was replying (actually, referring) to the link he posted.

Maybe, but if so, he certainly didn't make that at all clear to me. I
didn't even look at the link, since I didn't understand his message.

Nope, no need. Have read from people that have already done it with no
issues over at HardOCP.

I also know how to modify the Win7 ISO to make avaiaalble any version
of Win7 so can create a custom Win7 DVD that will upgrade from Win7RC
and install any version of Win7.

Huh? Of course I started a new thread because I wasn't replying to
anyone.

If you clicked on the link then you would and my subject line makes it
quite clear what I am talking about.

A WEEK?????? You MUST be JOKING right?

Nope. I have many games and like to have lots installed so it really
does take me about a week of messing about until I am satisifed with
my installations and configuring.

Four points:

1. I normally never click on links sent to me by people I don't know
and trust.

2. Like many of us here, I mostly disregard and don't read subject
lines.

3. You might think your subject line makes it quite clear, but looking
at it now, it still doesn't make your message clear.

4. Don't take it as a personal attack, because it isn't meant to be
that. But as far as I'm concerned, your message wasn't at all clear.
It looked like a reply to somebody else's message, and when you said
"this will save me a lot of time" I took "this" to refer to what the
person you were replying to said.

OK, sorry for confusing you.

BTW, it is quite clear the link I posted is a Microoft site and you
being a MVP obviously know that so now I think you are just trying to
be a bit of a PITA.

I don't worry about clciking on links from untrusted people to much
because I use FF with noscript and a few other goodies that makes it
virtually impossible for any malware to get through unless I allow it
to.

So I should be able to "downgrade" my Win7RC (ultimate)
to my new Win7 (Professional) with no problem?

There are always a few missteps in posting and replying, but with any luck,
a lot of people manage to obtain some useful advice. It's best to just roll
with the punches.

That's such good advice, I might even consider following it myself :-)

Hey, this article is no longer at the url I posted. Seems I came
across info that Microsft didn't want us to know.
