Has anybody come accross a problem I'm having trying to
upgrade from ME to XP where trying to check whether my
system is compatable, or using the transfer wizard, or
even installing none of these buttons on the install page
will work, although others will. I've gone into the
bios, and turned off the virus protection, I've also used
control-alt-delete to make sure that all running programs
are closed, but it just wont let me install.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Set your system BIOS to boot from the cd. Stick the XP installation cd in
the cd drive and reboot. XP installation will walk you through the format
and installation routine. A format will wipe the hard drive, so back up all
your data to a cd or zip disk or some other form of media before running the
format and installation. A clean install is the best way to go.

Hi I've tried that but it wont. This is a TINY computer,
need I say more. I cant do a back up there is no option
for that. I CANT USE THE 'TRANSFER FILES AND SETTING
WIZARD' NOR THE 'CHECK COMPATABILITY'

I forgot to say that I've manually checked the
compatability and that is fine. I've also tried
installing windows 98 and upgrading from that. But the
computer wont let me load 98 either. All I can load is ME
again. I've 'fdisked' and then 'reformatted' Its as
though there's something stopping me having any other
operating system on my computer other than ME.
