upgrading from me to xp

I have upgraded my computer from windows ME to XP and
there were some bugs to work out and they have been. now
i would like to get rid of windows ME from my computer
but am not sure if it's safe to do so. getting rid of ME
would free up a few hundred MB of space but i don't want
to cause problems in the computer if i do. Is it safe to
remove windows ME from my computer now?
