Upgrading from Beta 2 to RC1

Will MS be sending out CD copies of RC1 to those that ordered the Beta 2
version, or do I need to download the ISO file? If so, can I just run an
upgrade from that to my dual boot machine right over the Beta 2 install?

Yes they will send it out to you. Will take 2-4 weeks

It should come automatically. MS will send you an email, they are sending
in batches. I received mine 2 days ago.
 
I've been trying to find out if I'm getting copy of RC1. I have Beta 2 on
DVD, but have only had email advising of that RC1 is available.

Is this the email you are talking about?

And does this mean I get a copy of RC1 or do I have to order it again?
