Have XP Home installed and working well. Would like to upgrade my computer hardware, but wondering what upgrades (hard drive, cpu, motherboard) I can do without disabling XP.

Changing the CPU and harddrive shouldn't be a problem. You may need to contact Microsoft for permission to reinstall WinXP with no charge. But, changing the Motherboard creates a whole new PC, and you will probably need to purchase another copy of XP to install. Most peripherals can be interchanged, such as floppy drives, memory, modems, but the motherboard or even sisterboard will create a new system.

Not true. If you have a RETAIL copy of XP you can install and activate on
any machine that you like as long as that is the only machine you install it
on.
