I have recently bought a new graphics card that says it is an 8x but my BIOS
is only a 4x - the BIOS date is dated 04.02.2001 - how do I get a later
version of BIOS or upgrade or what do I do?

Hi

Have a look in the manual for your motherboard - it should tell you there
how to upgrade the BIOS. Failing that, if you know which motherboard your
PC has try the manufacturer's web site for details. Otherwise download a
copy of Everest, which will show you the make of motherboard:

"EVEREST Home Edition"

It take a hardware change to make a 4x AGP slot become an 8x
slot, the BIOS may need an update, but the slots are
physically different and the use different voltages.

The 8x AGP card should fit in the slot and the mobo should
identify it and provide the correct voltage.

You may want to consider a new mobo if you want the full
performance of the new graphics card.
