Hi all,
Possibly of topic but don't know where else to ask.
I'm swaping out the my old A7V133 and putting in a A7N8X-E Deluxe
and keeping my existing Antec case, power supply and drives. I'm going
to re-format my 200gig Seagate drive and re-install WindowsXP and this
will no doubt trigger re-activation. My question is, is there a way
around re-activating and if I have to is this going to be a problem, I
just bought XP a few months ago and don't want to have to buy it
again.
Thanks,
TDaddy

You certainly do not need to buy another copy of XP, but you will have
to activate it over the phone. Yes, it's a pain and an irritation. I
would try over the Internet first. It's possible it will detect enough
of the old pieces and just activate, if not, it will return with
instructions of what number to call and how to activate over the
phone. Sometimes they don't ask why you are re-activating but if they
do, just tell them what you have said here. You shouldn't have a
problem.

It will re-activate automatically if it was activated more than 90 (?)
days ago. Elsewise you'll have to do it manually via some MS liveware.
Do =not= tell them this is a 'new computer', tell them it is a repair to
the old one (assuming that you have an OEM copy of XP .. with a retail
one it would not be a problem to move it to a different machine).
