Upgraded to XP, now modem wont work

I own a Pavilion 7859. I recently upgraded from Windows Me to XP, now i cant connect to the internet. It dials up and starts to load the main page, but thats as far as it gets. I even tried buying a new modem and it does the exact same thing. I suspect there is an incorrect setting thats now allowing the modem to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you get any error messages? Did you upgrade all drivers to XP versions?
