Just upgraded to Office 2003 and now cannot open ANY
office xp prof documents from previous versions. No word,
excel or ppt files can be opened. All have error messages
such as "Powerpoint can't read <filename>..."

Any ideas what might have happened?

Should note also - I applied the hotfix for this and it
did not solve the problem.

Hi Bryan,

If you can create a very small example (1 or 2 slides with default <blank>
design and no images) in PowerPoint 2002 which you are unable to open in
PowerPoint 2003, go ahead and attach it to a reply to this thread and I
will be glad to have our testers look at it.

Hello Bryan,

I have discovered another possible cause for your problem. Older versions
of Norton AntiVirus will cause this symptom when trying to open up files in
Office 2003 applications. The following article gives instructions on how
to disable the OfficeAV.dll so that you can continue to use your anti-virus
software but it won't be invoked when trying to open up Office documents.
