Problem: System Works fine using DC390F as HDD scsi
controller, XP boots and I can use. After adding DC390U3W
and moving DRVS09V to Channel A on DC390U2W, and
repowering system, I get XP splash screen, but system
never comes up. It just continually reboots. I am
wondering if there may be a Bios problem or am I doing
something else wrong.( Note: This happens regardless if I
leave the DC390F in slot2 or if while XP is booted using
the DC390F and then uninstalling it in XP) This all occurs
regardless of the combination of controllers. I am really
baffled on this one. Sure would appreciate any assistance.

XP does install the DC390U3W and the bios does install.
The DRVSV is recognized during the scsi scan.

I tried to boot in the "Safe Mode" and the first several
files were read, but then it just stops.

SCSI controller operate differently in XP than do IDEs. You may have to do
an XP repair install and add the SCSI during the install boot.

Would you recommend trying to do the XP repair install
using the new controller? Everything including my CD is
scsi. Everything except my floppy. I do have a zip that is
usb.

I am not sure if I understand this. You have DC390F as a controller and also
DC390U3W as another controller or is that a drive? If so, then what is
DC390U2W? You seem to be talking about three different controllers or are we
talking about drives? Regardless of the type, one thing that you need to be
careful with SCSI configurations is the termination. There is the cable
termination that needs to be on end of each cable and that may also be an
active termination. Missing termination or placing the termination at the
wrong point may result in all kind of problems. The controller probably has
some jumper or software controller termination also. Same controller and
same drive will work just fine under some setup even if the termination is
incorrect and then with new OS it may not work at all.

There was a typo in original message. I was talking about
two controllers:DC390F and DC390U3W, the DC390U2W was a
typo--Sorry for the confusion. I have one bootable drive--
The IBM DRVS09, an IBM Ultrastar. I have double checked
the terminations of which I am well aware of. All
terminations are correct. Remember, I stated with the
original configuration, everything works correctly. The
only thing that I wanted to do in the first place was to
replace the old controller(DC390F) with the newer
controller(DC390U3W) in order to increase the through put
that my DRVS09 Ultrastar is capable of.
