Awesome os but damn i tried to upgrde some hardware *graphics card,
motherboard, processor* and after 3 days and 8 or more hours on the phone
with tech support staff i am switching to linux. It is a joke. When i bought
Vista i didnt know i was agreeing not to upgrade my hardware. It is the most
frustrating thing when you just spent thousands on a computer and hours
putting it all together and your os, "the most advanced out there", cant
handle some hardware changes. Not to mention the tech support expirience in
general. Im not trying to sound racist but i can barely understand some of
them and it makes it hard to troubleshoot when you have to keep asking them
to repeat themselves. Plus half the people knew less than i do about
computers but they will not go forward untill you try theyre troubleshooting
step with them even though youve tried it on your own or even with some other
tech support person who didnt write it down in the notes from the last time i
called. The most frustrating thing is that i have an Xbox 360 and will no
longer be able to use media center to stream things to my tv. Its definatlely
a big shame microsoft had to screw me like this. maybe i will buy a mac and a
ps3 or something. Right now im saying F*** microsoft they just lost a
customer.

actually what I see is someone who has no idea and has to blame others for
his own incompetence

If you can't handle advanced Windows problems you certainly will not be able
to handle advanced Linux problems.

You think hardware support is better in Linux? Think again.

You think trouble shooting is easier? Think again.

You think that anyone here cares if you switch to Linux? Think again. It a
free O/S so do as you wish.

You should have done some research before buying Vista. Why are you
trying to upgrade the motherboard, processor and graphics card on a new
PC which cost you thousands?
It is the most

You spent thousands on a computer yet didn't think to ask if it was up
to the job? It sounds more like you went to PCWorld and listened to one
of their 'technical' sales people. 'The most advanced out there' would
run any version of Vista with no problems.

Post the PC specs?

I understand how you feel about this. I had to put the phone down on
Xbox support back in 2001 because I couldn't understand a word being
said and the girl on the phone. It wasn't her fault but a completely
pointless support system.
The most frustrating thing is that i have an Xbox 360 and will no

How have Microsoft 'screwed' you? You bought something without looking
into it and now you feel the need to blame others. It might sound a bit
harsh but that is the reality.

When I built my new rig I had the same reactivation issue, but when I called
the Activation hotline they asked if the Vista software was installed on
another PC I told them it was not and I was using the same HD as the
original installation. They promptly gave me the new activation key for my
PC. The only things that were from my original rig were 2 HD's and my DVD
drive. Everything else was new. No problems with reactivating.
